Violated and Disrespected

Let me tell you how violated and disrespected I feel. When I got home tonight, I already knew something was wrong. I put the key into the top lock of the door and the cylinder was open. I know I locked it. When I walked into my space the lamp looked like it wasn't right. It was in the usual location but turned slightly different. Same with the sofa which was ever so slightly slanted. Someone was in my space without my permission. They have been doing electrical work on the second floor for over two weeks now. Typical west indian process of "it gets done when it gets done". It's bad enough that the landlord or his relatives who live on sight didn't even bother to notify me of impending work but now who the fuck do they think they are that they can come and go in and out of my space without my permission?!? Only in an emergency are they allowed to do so and even then I'm still to be notified! I talked to the neighbor downstairs asking him the ongoings and he told me the landlord was on site and let people into my space. Some fucking nerve! His behavior is unacceptable. And no notification that he let people into my space. I called over to his house and his dumb wife acted like it was so inconvenient to take a message and to call back tomorrow. Just wait...it's on like popcorn! If they think they can just come and go in here like that's o.k. i'm here to tell you it's not. With the exception of when I first moved five years ago and I couldn't be home when a new refrigerator was delivered...I have never had service workers unsupervised in my space. While I do have renters insurance that's not the point. It's a blatant invasion of privacy and a total disregard for me. Disgusting how some people think this type of behavior is appropriate. Renting is a business transaction and with that comes rules. Entering my space when one feels like it without notification is definitely crossing the line and breaking the rules.

Good Morning

Today is the anniversary of the Sept 11th attack on the World Trade Center. The sky literally a bit gray right now as if though the Earth is marking the tragedy also. I can't believe it's been seven years already. While none of us will ever forget, I do wish that a few of the annual tributes associated with the day would stop. The broadcasting of the reading of names should stop. Entire day of programming about 9/11 (except on PBS, cable, etc) needs to stop also. I think its really hurting us all by making us stuck in time. Regression not progression. None of us will ever forget all those who were injured and those who died. Must remembering the day be forced upon us in such a manner as it is now? We all have our own way of dealing with sadness I just don't think the television airwaves should be the platform for commemorating the bad things that happened seven years ago today. Why do people always want to mourn the day somebody died but never celebrate the life that one lived once they are gone?

Silence is Golden

Only have about five minutes for this post since I have a drs. appt and have to leave in 15 minutes.

You know what I realized the other day? That for about the last five weeks or so, I have been getting dressed in the morning in silence. Normally I listen to music or the news but I've been in this zone of silence for a good bit...and it feels good. In a way I think it primed me to better deal with the zone of silence at night when I come home. Since I basically don't have any friends who have any time whatsoever to call me (that's their excuse), I find myself continuing to fill my time with even more things that I want to learn. I waited too long to sign up for swimming (the class I wanted was filled) so I have to wait a few more weeks for the next group of class offerings. In the meantime, it gives me the opportunity to review my financial management notes and order the book that I had borrowed for the semester (since I couldn't afford the $100+ price tag for the book) Still can't really afford it but it's worth the investment to now own the book. Oh my...time's a tickin. Better go. Will try to revisit this post tonight. Oh...btw..the wedding was beautiful...monsoon weather but wedding and reception was beautiful. More later.
