This was the first year ever in my voting history where I stood in line for over two and a half hours to make my pick for President of the United States. I met some interesting people during my wait. Saw many of my neighbors and that was cool. I was surprised at just how many of my neighbors I know by name considering I'm but a mere renter on the block. Nice. I know my neighbors...that's a good thing. Their was an elderly gentleman named Richard who was in line. We talked everything from politics, to the economy, to the neighborhood. It helped to make the time go by a bit faster. I was a bit disappointed with how inefficient the process seemed to be. I can now see how voting fraud and discrepancies can occur. I was not asked to produce official ID like my drivers license and when I signed in, instead of handing me the polling card to take to the booth, I, like others, was told to line up for the voting booth. Nobody checked to see if registered voters were indeed at the booth. Anybody could have walked in. I was even surprised when I got on site at the school to vote. Normally you can't wear political memorabilia within 500 feet (or possibly yards) of the polling site. I removed my Obama buttons before I got there but saw many people inside with political swag. All I know is that Obama better win as he is the rightful heir fix the messed up throne Bush has left us! I am so excited to participate in history by casting my vote for the first black president in the United States! I took a picture of my vote as you can see!
I was supposed to go to an election night viewing party at a local Brooklyn bar. One of my classmates invited me. I want to go but I don't want to walk home by myself. It's really dark around here and the streets are quiet. It sucks virtually all the folks I know don't go out of their way to do anything fun or invite a single like me. Oh well. I'm going to say up late nonetheless and celebrate when Obama gives his acceptance speech! I don't care how late it is I'm going to say up! I have a low grade migraine that has been with me since early this morning so I hope it goes away soon. The last of the Eastern seaboard polls close in about a half hour. More then.
9:15pm. More states coming in with their decision. I find it amazing that John McCain could possibly lose his home state of Arizona! If he does it will go to show how he greatly underestimated the Hispanic voters there. Right now all networks are saying it's too close to call. Wow! Who would have thunk it? LOL. And Elizabeth Dole has lost her senate seat! Double wow. The time has come for the Doles and the Bushs to get out of the frontlines of politics. This is exciting!
9:33...OHIO! Yes...we now see definitively...President Barack Obama...just need another big state like California to make it an impossible mountain for McCain to climb.
