Mile Marker 7

What a beautiful day for the runners at the NYC ING Marathon! I was able to once again witness this great accomplishment this time from Brooklyn at Mile 7. I, along with several other volunteers, cheered on the 50 American Cancer Society runners as well as virtually everyone passing mile seven. My voice is still a little hoarse from all the cheering. My arms also got a great workout from ringing my cowbell! LOL. It was great to see the race from this perspective. This is my third time volunteering for marathon. The other two times were at the finish line. Some of the runners were actually thanking us for coming out at supporting their efforts! I didn't expect that. Goes to show you how surprisingly good total strangers can be. I am so proud of all of those people! They are so brave. I hope I am able to accomplish their same goal this time next year.

I'm really happy to have gotten the extra hour of sleep. I'm yawning right now. In two days Obama will be named the first African American president! I am excited to be witness to yet another historical moment. I pray though for his safety. I am worried. Still so many ignorant people out there. It's sad they call themselves Americans yet discriminate based on race. I was invited to an Election night gathering at a bar. I won't know anyone but the host but I will go and have fun...hopefully meet some new people too. It's hard to believe that the year is almost over. I'm looking forward to seeing Miriam this month. She will come into the city and we'll be seeing Wintuk. I wanted to see that show last year but didn't so I am very happy I will be seeing her as well as the show. Double blessing. O.K. My eyes are shutting. Kind of tired. More tomorrow.
